Through the 2-way Mirror Glass

So this is a project I have been meaning to do for a while. The idea is to have people photographed through a two-way mirror. This means that they are able to seem themselves as they are getting their picture taken. In practice, this is a somewhat uncomfortable experience, but also somewhat telling.

In the images below, people are reacting to seeing themselves in the mirror.

Thanks so much to all the people that agreed to be in these images!

If you see yourself in these images, they are on facebook here.

Planned Parenthood Portraits

Seems I stumbled upon some activism last night…

I was shooting party photos at the Vantage Point release party when I was approached to take a few portraits for a Planned Parenthood campaign. I can’t claim to be very informed, but from what I understand it is a good cause.

Feel free to tag yourself on facebook here.

Ticket to the Gun Show

One of my good friends loves shooting sports. On occasion I go to the range with him to poke holes in pieces of paper. Did you think photos were the only thing I shot?

This past weekend my friend took me to the mother of all Northern Virginia based gun shows: The Chantilly Gun Show.

I wasn’t supposed to take pictures, but I am really glad I did.

Alls Well That Ends Well

Photo shoots in general can be emotional roller-coasters (no joke). One minute things are going great, the next everything has gone completely wrong. During this shoot last week, I spent the entierty of the session thinking that my $1200 zoom lens had fallen out of the back of the truck and was being crushed to bits by 16-wheelers. My troubles aside, Connor Gaeta put down some incredible tricks on the pictured downrail. Somehow I was able to pull it together and get some of my best shots of the season.
After getting back home around 4 in the morning sans lens, I was a bit frazzled, and was planning on spending the rest of the night figuring out what I was going to tell the insurance company. 20 minutes later, Harrison Goldberg and Will Stevenson show up at my door, lens in tow. The only damage done was to the case, which had apparently froze to the ground. Needless to say I had no trouble falling asleep.

‘Snow+Boredom=’ or ‘How to Jump off a Roof’

There are only so many things you can do with so much snow; snowboarding, snowball fighting, igloo building…Beyond that there isn’t much else.  My good friend Colin (pictured) is creative to say the least.
Be sure to enlarge  the top photo to check the game face.
